TARGET MARKET

THE ULTRA-ORTHODOX HAREDI POPULATION IS FORECAST TO RISE TO 40% OF THE OVERALL JEWISH POPULATION BY 2065, UP FROM 14% IN 2015 AND 24% IN 2040. -- Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS)

58% of the Haredi community is 19 years of age or younger, according to the CBS. 73% of Haredi women participate in the labor market, compared to 52% of Haredi men. In Jerusalem, 1/3 of the Jewish population is Ultra-Orthodox. The annual growth rate of the Haredi population is 4% as opposed to 1% among non-Haredi Jews.

Recent netnography research by the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has found that ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel use the Internet, although anonymously, just as much as anyone else.

BASED ON PROJECTED GROWTH TRENDS, BY THE END OF THE CENTURY, THE ULTRA-ORTHODOX HAREDI POPULATION IS EXPECTED TO PLAY A DOMINANT ROLE WITHIN THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN ISRAEL AND THE DIASPORA. -- Midrash.Tech

AMERICAN ULTRA-ORTHODOX POPULATION

The median age of American Orthodox adults (40 years old) is fully a decade younger than the median age of other Jewish adults (52). A third of Haredi Jews (32%) are between the ages of 18 and 29, nearly half of Haredi adults (46%) are in the 30-49 cohort, while only 6% are 65 or older. Despite being younger, more than two-thirds of Orthodox adults are married (69%), compared with about half of other Jewish adults (49%). About eight-in-ten Orthodox Jews (84%) say that all or most of their friends are Jewish. -- Pew Research Center, Portrait of American Orthodox Jews

The United States is home to the second largest Haredi population, with a growth rate on pace to double every 20 years. With slightly over 300,000, the U.S. Haredi population is only 1/3 the size of Israel's. An overwhelming majority of U.S. Haredi Jews (89%) live in the Northeast, primarily in New York and New Jersey, according to Pew.

The Canadian Haredi population is primarily concentrated in Montreal and Toronto.

EUROPE

The UK has large Ultra-Orthodox communities in north London, Salford and Gateshead. The Hasidic community of Stamford Hill in north-east London, over 30,000 strong and growing at a rate of around 5% each year, is known to have the largest concentration of Haredi Jews in Europe.

50% of Jewish children and around 30% of young Jewish adults in the UK will be strictly Orthodox by 2031. -- Institute for Jewish Policy Research, Strictly Orthodox Rising.

While JPR estimated the UK's Ultra-Orthodox population at near 43,600, based on 2011 census figures, the Interlink Foundation estimated the true figure by 2015 at 58,500.

In France there are about 25,000 Haredim, mostly Sephardi Jews of North African descent, living primarily in Paris, Strasbourg and Lyon. Other European communities, mostly of Ashkenazi Jews, are the Belgian community of Antwerp, as well as the Swiss communities of Zürich and Basel, the Dutch community of Amsterdam, and the Austrian community of Vienna.

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE: ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, SOUTH AFRICA & AUSTRALIA

Other countries with significant Haredi communities include Argentina, primarily in Buenos Aires; Brazil, primarily in São Paulo; South Africa, primarily in Johannesburg; and Australia, primarily in Melbourne.
